A native of Huntington Beach, California, A.J. studied Business Administration & Economics at UC Berkeley and began his career as a financial analyst working at Morningstar and Jackson National Asset Management in Chicago.

After falling in love with the city, he bought his first property with $10,000 down — a 3-unit property in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. From day 1, the rents covered his mortgage and he was “living for free,” and he was hooked – a real estate investor from that moment on.

By 2016, he had saved / refinanced enough to buy a second property — a 4-unit; and in 2017, another 4-unit; in 2019, two more 4-units, in 2020, another 3-unit Airbnb property. Along the way, he began investing in real estate development, starting with a single family home, followed by a 3-unit condo building, and has since invested in 5 residential development projects.

In 2021-2022, he sold 80% of his multifamily portfolio to focus on a new project, Chicago City Real Estate.
